My
dear
Mother
It
has
now
been
two
weeks
and
more
since
I
have had the
pleasure
of
hearing
from any of
you
.
I
know
it
cant
be
owing
to the
irregularities
of the
mail
for
I
over-heard
Mr
.
Wyers
read
Pas
signature
aloud
to a
letter
he had
just
received
if
it
is
possible
for him to
get
letters
from
you
it
must
certainly
be for
me
.
School
will
commence
regularly
Monday
the
10th
and the
boys
will
go
to
work
refreshed
and with
renewed
vigor
and
energy
feeling
the
urgent
need
of
diligence
and
perseverance
.
I
say
boys
, but at the
same
time
speak
for
myself
presuming
they
feel
about
it
as
I
do
.
Last
night
I
with a
few
others
went
to the
Methodist
Protracted
meeting.
after
the
sermon
I
realy
think
you
would have
laughed
right
out
loud
had
you
been there the
Preacher
began
to
call
on the
congregation
to
come
forward
and
profess
Jesus
.
Many
women
went
up
and
men
such
crying
I
dont
suppose
you
ever
heard
in a
church
it
was
more
like
a
nursery
than
anything
else
just
a
continual
bohoo
all
the
time
.
I
had to
laugh
whether
it
was
right
to
do
so
as not
it
seemed
impossible
to
restrain
myself
. The
winter
so
far
has been
extremely
mild
even
more
so
I
think
than
last-
affording
very
poor
skating
and
sleighing
indeed
we
have had
very
pretty
weather
for
several
days
past
.
I
sincerely
hope
it
may
continue
so
far
I
always
feel
in
better
health
and
spirits
when
the
weather
is
fine
. In
my
last
I
sent
you
three
[Phot]
. If there
is
a
right
good
looking
young
lady
down
there
one
that would
compare
well
with
me
I
will
give
you
permission
to
present
her
one
of
my
pictures
.
I
sit
down
thinking
I
would
only
write
a
short
letter
to
say
my
health
is
as
good
as
usual
to
keep
good
my
customary
promptness
.
I
will
now
say
bye
,
bye
with any
quantity
of
love
for
your
dear
self
Pa
and
Grand
Ma
Your
Affectionate
son
F
.
Robt
Bernard
P.S
.
You
will
see
from the
composition
and
hand-writing
of this that
I
have not
taken
a
great
deal
of
pains
,
laziness
and
beginning
it
late
are
only
excuses
I
offer
F.R.B
.
