about
three
or
four
hundred
yards
apart
and
some
of
our
Pickets
are
exchanging
shots
every
day
with the
Pickets
of the

and they
frequently
hit
one
another
thare
was

in a
few
hours
after
. They
frequently
kill
a
Yankee
but
our
Regt
. has
positive
orders
not to
shoot
unless
we
are
attacted
and the
Yankee
Pickets
and
ours
have not
shot
at
each
other
any
altho
they are in
full
view
of
each
other
and
could
have
annoyed
one
another
very
much.
"
We
have
no
communication
with them
whatever.)
The
Yankies
have a
considerable
force
on this
side
the
River
and are
fortifying.
" They are in
about
one
mile
and a
half
of
our
army
and
it
is
thot
that
we
will have a
fight
her but
it
is
not
nown.
