I have this day seen my 
Old Friend Mr. Prescott - on his return from "
Carrollton - who informs me you are and have 
been sick - which I was truely sorry to learn 
as I fear it has much interfered with your studies."
Would have written you long since agreeable ) to promise 
but for the frequent opportunity I have had of 
hearing from you.  Should your health continue 
bad - write me - and I will bring you home 
for a season  I have no news of interest to 
communicate - family are at present all well 
but have had quite a sickly one for weeks or 
months past.)
On meeting with Mr. Holt at our 
Camp - Meeting I requested of him that you 
devote your time this session particularly to the 
study of History - a study much neglected 
in our schools and one which I esteem very 
important.)
It would be idle in me to remind you 
of the necessity of close application to your studies 
- that on your own exertion depends your future 
prosperity you are well aware.  Must conclude.)
