You will observe from the above 
that my pen is bad.  Received yours of October 4th this 
morning; having a little leasure time, I take great pleasure 
in replying, you ask, how am I pleased with my boarding."
I do not like to complain, but could not do it justice 
without so doing.  I must pronounce the fare poor,"
poor indeed, for 12 dollars per month.  And if there was any 
other possible chance, without loosing too much time 
from my studies, I would not board where I do.)
I am sorry that Cornelius Taylor is not coming, but he 
could not enter college if he were to come.  As to his money's 
being stolen, I recon that is hardly so, I am glad to hear 
of Bob's progressing so fair with Latin.  Now is the time that 
he should have the right kind of instructions  If he gets the 
fundamental principles rightly laid down in his head,"
his road to a knowledge of that language will be easy;"
but if not it will be like climbing a hill whose summit 
never can be reached. Pa ought to pay particular attention
