My dear Georgia:"
Before the date of
this I presume you have heard
that I was wounded in the Battle
of Gaines Mills, which took place
on Friday the 27th June in front
of Richmond. My wound is a right deep flesh wound in the
upper and outer part of the
left thigh. It is doing admira-
bly well, and in a week I will
be able to walk about, and if
they will give me a furlough I will
be able to come home and see you
all. A great many furloughs have
been granted, but at present all
orders has been issued but no
new furloughs be granted for
the present. I think this order
