Dear Jerrie"
It has been
a long time since I have heard
from you. I have written several letters
to you but have received but one as yet."
And being again launched forth in the
world, and all alone, my thoughts very naturally
turn towards my old companions and
associates, so this morning I will attempt
to write you a few lines, thinking perhaps you
would like to hear form(sic) your Mississippi
friends. Jerrie I have had a pretty good
time since I have been home, and
was very much in hopes it would continue
but I was sadly mistaken. The fall of
Vicksburg broke considerably into my
arrangements, I see our old Regt. has
again been into it, it suffered very much
in officers. I have not as yet seen a full
list of all the wounded or killed
