My dear Mrs. Armistead:- 
I thank you very much for your second letter, which inclosed a part of the Times- 
Democrat of June 29th, showing the picture of my dear Jere, and the photographic letter."
I was with him when that picture was taken, and he gave me one. I gave him one 
of mine, at the same time."
I made a digest of the letter of Dr. Holt, and his article, and left it at the office of 
the Sunday Editor of the Commercial Appeal, but have not heard from it. I wrote him to- 
day to send it to me if it had not been destroyed. This worried me, as that paper never yet 
has failed to publish everything I have sent to it. The News-Scimitar wanted it, but the 
Appeal has a circulation all over Mississippi, and I wished the artic-le widely distributed 
where Jere was known. Dr. Geo. C. Phillips of Lexington, Mississippi, would be happy 
to read those articles. I had better say that he would be gratified, as he loved Jere just as I did.
