Sarah Simmons was to be married but did not mention to whom. It seems sad to think of Jane Curtis being so low. How is Louisa now is she getting any better? Well Lucy has finished her chat with Joe and has come in to prepare for bed I reckon so I will close. Give my love to all and write soon to your sister. Em. I am going to have a new sewing machine are you not glad?

Dear sister Em-"
You now have commenced reading a very stupid letter from your very stupid sister but you may give me ere [illegible word] for this even as I have been sleeping half the day on the bed, while Lucy betook herself to the lounge- and the baby had the crib- but Lucy declares herself too dull to write any thing. Dont you think it her duty to write oftener than myself but I flatter myself that I write more than any of you all notwithstanding my numerous cares. We are having an unusual quantity of rain which renders the prospect without rather dubious. this is the third Sunday we have been detained from church on account of bad weather.
