Lucy has just gone to the country to make a visit and left me alone for the night. I having chanced to find an open letter dictated to you concluded to write a few lines seal it and send it off. I have not one item of news to tell you as she has stolen the march and written all, even about the circus &c &c. I go nowhere to hear news only from the garden to the smoke house and back to the house but it has been a busy season with me. so many clothes to put in order when I was trying on Mollies last Saturday Lucy said she would count them to see how many I had to let out for her and she found only twelve for her this summer beside two new ones I was having made. now multiply that twelve by four or five think of sick children housekeeping & c. and you will not wonder that I am
