Dear Sister Em-"
I have not much time to write you this morning as I have just given out my dinner and the mail will close soon but having neglected to do so yesterday will write a little. Lucy wrote to father yesterday and told me to write you so between us both you may get a letter of tolerable length.
We have been having any quantity of rain for a few days past and it is gloomy enough but I have had enough to do to keep me from minding the weather much. so much spring work to do. I should get a sewing machine but prefer waiting until I go north which I expect to do in July �Providence permitting.� but I am somewhat fearful how I shall get along if I could take Lina to take care of Tom Cobb. I would not hesitate a moment but I am
