Give my love to every body-"
Dear Sister Em"
Your very welcome epistle was duly recd a few days since and as the rain prevents my attendance at church I will return your favor. It is very amusing to me to read the northern and southern papers when I read the former; from their [swelling] words one would be confident they would be victorious in about a half hour they could kill every man here. I then take up one of the latter and am as much convinced that in a little if no time you will have to hang your head and run- I expect the one that brags the most is the best fellow but that thing will not do at last and time will determine for us who will be victorious.
