Mr. G. & myself will go to see you when the country gets free of Guerrillas but they are terrible. I had rather have both armies here at once. Mr. G. wishes to be remembered to Father & you & every body that I love he says he loves- He says my kinfolks are not Yankees-"

Dear Sister
I have not heard from you at home since my arrival here but have written several letters home. I sent one a letter over a week since by Col. [Chenneworth] who will mail it in Ky to father. I sent in that letter one that Mrs. Reese wrote me. I want Aunt Eliza to send it to her mother also one from Mrs. Hoyt to be sent to her relations in Springfield. We have heard to day that Selma was burned and Gen. Chalmers Brigade badly cut up it may not be true however- John & Bob are both with Chalmers & Billy was also in the fight we have not heard from them yet. I imagine we shall be in the Yankee lines before long. then we can hear from you often. I think as soon as Mobile is taken this R. Road will be used by the Federals. so keep up good courage I am so tired of looking at and feeding
