I am getting less fond of travel it seems like quite a task to pack up and start. Tom is nearly frantic to go. he has sold his pony for $100 and his father has paid him for attending to the stock this past summer so he feels rich. he has about a hundred and forty dollars I expect. Our plantation is rented out this year to negroes. every [acre] will be in cultivation. they pay as rent so many lbs of cotton to the acre. we will take no corn. our share will be all cotton. we have sold
