the talk of the town for days here some one got hold of the name & like all such rumors was exaggerated until I could not bear to see any one fearing they would want to know particulars about the affair. I have knit a pair of yarn socks for Wm Christmas [saxon] yarn will send them next week. I will look for your letter Thurs. or Friday Sister�"

Your letter of the 19th just rec�d I did not suppose the flowers would reach there before Chapin left or I would have written giving him my ideas about his trip I would not have him leave at night as we did. The getting through N.Y. at that hour is so disagreeable but it is too late now to worry as when this reaches you he will I hope be safely housed with his brothers in Macon. Lynne is getting anxious to see him & Joe needs him very much. Mr. Crump is waiting for him to get there before coming to W.P. or a visit to his relatives. You have certainly done a mothers part by my boy. I do not know any one else who would have been
