Dear Aunt Emily-"
I have intended writing before now in regard to mortgage of E.E.C. Chapin, but all communication from outside world has been cut off for the past ten days or two weeks on account of floods occasioned by heavy rains; a great deal of damage was done in this county, every bridge was washed away a great deal of cattle washed away and several plantations completely submerged, some damage was done to us about one half mile of fencing washed away, we cannot realize any thing from Ga investments at present and feel compelled to have interest accruing from said mortgage at once, the rate of Int. is I believe in Mass
