You perhaps think that my letters are few & far between but you must consider my health has been very feeble for the last month & half I am slowly gaining my health & strength I have not done any duty here for six weeks but hope to be able to begin in a few days at least I hope to be well for I think from the sign of the times that we will have some stiring times in a few days [&] our forces are gradually pressing upon the enemy at every point of the Patomac river our men drove the yankes off of Heall’s Hill from which they can see the capital & city of Washington also Alexandria & Arlington heights & can bombard Georgetown from that point you will hear of a great fight about Alexandria in a few days but I do not believe we will be in the next battle for two reasons they will leave a strong force at this
