It is with great pleasure that I take my seat to write you I received yours of the 27 and almost devoured it I read it over four or five times I am sorry that you felt pained when you received my letter of complaint but you must excuse me for I had wrote you eight or ten letters without receiving an answer and was almost distracted to hear from you and those darling babies but I have received three from you and am looking for another we are still looking for an attact on this place they (our forces) have destroyed the bridges on the Baltimore & Ohio R R to prevent the enemy from coming down it , it is reported here that Scott has a strong force marching here and that they were expected to camp at Martinsburge about 16 miles off but we are ready for them, Brother Andrew left here for Winchester with seven others sick with the measles he was getting well when he started from here on Saturday last I have not heard from
