Dearest Sallie, I have waited and anxiously looked for a letter for two long weeks, but alas! alas! none yet. I reed' yours of the 11th of May yesterday was two weeks ago, and answered it this day two weeks. I thought I would write again last Saturday or Sunday, but kept putting it off thinking that I would get another every day until today, and the mail boy has come in and no letter yet. I almost know there must be two or three on the way, but it looks like they never will get here. The Smith boys got a letter a few days ago written the 5th of this month and stating the death of your Uncle Josiah, and Billie Gray reed' one day before yesterday written the 10th stating that he died the 30th of May. I was really sorry to hear of it and truly sympathize with the bereaved family, but hope that he is better off today than any of us here in this world of war and trouble. Dear, I want you to write if he died happy, and all about the particulars. Billie's letter stated that you and Alice were still sick, I am some what uneasy for fear it is something more than effects of my furlough, but hope it is neither that nor anything so serious.
