Much Respected Brother, As Sis Sallie is writing to you today, I thought I would whisper a few words in your ear. I justly owe you a letter – I would have responded to it long long ago, but had no paper and now since I have got paper I have no pen, but you know how hard it is to get pens or anything else in this hard country. The whole neighborhood is now gone to Memphis. Brother Barry Sloan got from there yesterday. Sis Sallie will tell you who is gone. I have not sent off any cotton yet, but perhaps will as soon as we get the wheat sowed. Brother Watson did you know Wm. was out in the army. Yes he and John Robinson was called out in July, Wm was gone 7 weeks and I never seen him for that length of time. I would go perfectly crazy if I did not get to see Wm for 9 months like Sarah Ann. I would like very much to see you, but Sis Sallie would give a fortune nearly to see you.
