Dear
Wife,)
I
embrace
the
presant
opportunity
of
wrighting
you
a
few
lines
to
let
you
now
how
we
are
getting
along
we
are
all
well
at
presant
and
hope
these
lines
will
find
you
and the
children
all
well
David
Murphree
started
home
last
Saturday
and
I
sent
you
three
hundred
dollars
and the
boys
sent
fifty
dollars
all
in the
same
pack
Jonathan
sent
fifteen
and
Henry
thirty
five
.
I
want
you
to
pay
A.
McDonald
fifty
dollars
for
McEntere's
putting
up
the
levy
and
pay
McD
thirty
two
dollars
and
fifty
cents
for
Wm
.
Cotton
will and then
I
want
you
to
pay
Nancy
Hudson
seventy
five
and then
you
have
ninety
two
Dollars
and
fifty
cents
left
besides
the
boys
fifty
will
make
one
hundred
and
forty
two
and
fifty
cents
which
you
can
use
for any
thing
you
need
to
try
and
make
you
and the
children
comfortable
and if
you
need
it
use
the
boys
and
I
will
replace
it
for them for
I
do
not
want
you
to
need
for
anything
and if
I
do
not
get
to
come
home
before
long
I
will
send
you
some
moore
money
as
soon
as
I
can
but
I
think
that
I
will
come
home
before
long
perhaps
by
Christmas
at the
outside
.
Thos
Goode
is
dead
he
died
up
on the
Potomac
about
the
first
of the
month
we
have not
heard
from the
boys
on the
Potomac
for
several
days
they had
several
wounded
and
one
killed
I
saw
Benn
[?]
Brown
Saturday
in
Richmond
his
arm
is
off
about
3
or
4
inches
below
his
elbo.
" He was
just
starting
home
I
want
you
to
get
Isaac
to
procure
you
some
salt
to
salt
your
meat
and
try
and have
your
hoggs
all
fattened
well
and
try
to
put
up
enough
meat
to
do
you
plentiful
the
next
year
for
meat
will be
very
high
Bacon
is
worth
from
[?]
cents
to
sixty
cents
in this
market.
"
You
need
not
fatten
more
than
about
fifteen
head
unless
they
get
well
fat
on the
mash
But
I
want
you
to
try
and
get
them
shy
ones
up
at the
old
field
for
I
am
afeared
that they will
gow
wild
if they are not
got
this
fall
Git
Isaac
to
assist
you
in
getting
them
up
you
said
something
in
your
last
letter
about
selling
Henry's
horse
you
had
better
sell
him if
you
can
and not
keep
sow
much
stock
through
the
winter
I
want
you
to
try
and
git
some
one
to
attend
to the
mill
if
Sherman
will not
keep
it
McDonald
wrote
to
me
that he
thot
that
Sherman
would not
keep
it
any
longer
that his
time
was
out
and that if he
could
not
git
him that he
nowed
of
no
other
chance
but
Bratton
but
I
do
not
want
Bratton
to have
anything
to
do
with
it
and
sow
wrote
to him if he
can't
get
any
boddy
I
want
you
to
see
Isaac
and
get
him to
assist
you
in
some
one
that he
thinks
is
honest
and that
nows
some
thing
about
a
mill.)
Thare
is
a
small
package
of
money
in with
mine
that
Murphree
has
belonging
to
W.A
.
Harget
that he
wants
you
to
send
to his
wife
by
some
sure
hand
thare
is
twenty
two
Dollars
send
it
to her or
keep
it
untill
she
comes
for
it.
"
it
is
marked
to her and
thare
is
a
small
roll
marked
to A.
Phillips
by
some
safe
hand.
"
I
think
when
it
comes
to

you
had
better
send
for
Issac

let
him
assist
you
for
I
want
them to have their

22.00
in
Phillips
accept
the

husband
for
yourself
and the
