Dear
Margery
"
I
again
sit
down
to
wright
you
a
few
lines
to
inform
you
of
our
presant
state
of
helth
we
are
all
well
at this
time
and
hope
that these
few
lines
may
find
you
enjoying
the
same
blessing.
"
We
have the
small
pocks
in
our
Regt
. but
none
in
our
company
yet.
"
We
have
all
been
vacinated
and
I
hope
we
will
ascape.
" They
move
all
the
cases
to the
Hospittal
as
fast
as they
make
thare
appearance
and
I
am
in
hopes
that
we
will
get
it
stoped
in the
Regt
. that
way.
"
Myself
and the
boys
has been
vacinated
several
times
and
sow
has the
most
of the
Company
and
I
think
that
thare
is
not
much
danjer
of us
taking
it
altho
some
that has been
vacinated
do
take
it.
"
thare
have been
two
deaths
in the
Regiment.
"
We
are
still
her and
I
do
not
now
how
much
longer
we
will
stay
hear
nor
whare
we
will
gow
when
we
do
leave
her.
" But
I
will
wright
to
you
when
we
do
move
again.
"
I
tried
the
hardist
sort
to
git
a
furlough
to
come
home
but
failed
and
I
do
not
now
now
when
I
will
git
to
come
home
But
whenever
I
think
thare
is
any
chance
I
will
try
again
But
you
must
reconsile
it
to
yourself
to
remain
alone
untill
times
sow
changes
that
I
can
git
the
chance
to
come
home
for
Col
Miller
thinks
that
every
Boddy
must
stay
in the
army
untill
just
such
time
as
suits
him.
" He
is
a
hard
master
and if
I
ever
get
from
under
him
it
will
do
me
good
to
tell
him what
I
think
of him for he
is
the
most
perfect
tyrant
that
ever
lived
But
I
am
compelled
to
make
the
best
of a
bad
bargain
I
can
But the
war
I
hope
will not
last
always.
"
I
hear
in a
letter
that was
Recvd
by
D.R
.
Patterson
from his
Bro
that
Isaac
had
joined
the
Cavillery
and was
gowing
of
which
I
am
very
much
supprised
at and if he has not
I
want
you
to
try
and
keep
him at
home
untill
he
is
old
enough.
" He
is
not
sixteen
years
old
yet.
" he will be
sixteen
next
May
and
I
want
him to
stay
at
home
and
take
care
of
you
and
assist
you
in
taking
care
of
every
thing
on the
place
for
I
dont
see
how
you
are to
git
along
without
him
sow
if he
leaves
it
will
compell
me
to
resign
and
come
home
myself
a
thing
that
I
do
not
want
to
do
unless
I
could
get
the
boys
out
of this
Regt
and
thare
is
now
chance
for that at
presant
sow
I
want
you
to
try
and
keep
him at
home.
"
We
receive
the
Clothes
that
you
sent
us
which
came
in a
very
good
time.
"
I
have
nothing
of any
Importance
to
wright
I
wrote
you
a
letter
a
few
days
agow.
"
I
have not
got
a
letter
from
you
for a
long
time
and
I
am
getting
very
ancious
for a
letter
I
want
you
to
wright
to
me
all
about
how
you
are
getting
along
how
my
hogs
are
doing
and how
much
Pork
you
have
put
up
and in
fact
all
you
can
think
of what the
Yankees
have
done
in
our
country
and what they have
done
for
you.
"
I
have been
told
that they
took
my
sorrel
horse
from
Isaac
and
left
him an
old
cripled
horse
in his
place
sow
do
not
fail
to
wright
as
soon
as
you
get
this
letter
and
tell
me
all
the
news.
"
Give
my
love
to
all
my
friends
and
tell
them that
I
would
like
to her from them,
I
want
you
to
remember
me
when
you
are
retiring
for the
night
for
I
hardly
ever
retire
at
night
without
thinking
of
you
and the
children
,
pray
for
me
and the
Boys
that
we
may
hold
out
faithful
and
once
more
be
permitted
to
return
home
in
peace
.
Kiss
the
children
for
me
and
tell
them to be
good
children
and
accept
the
best
wishes
of
your
husband.
