Dear
Margery
"
I
this
evening
reed
two
letters
from
you
and
hasten
to
answer
them.
We
are
all
well
at
presant
and
hope
these
few
lines
may
find
you
enjoying
the
same
blessing.
"
I
was
glad
to her from
you
and her that
you
and the
children
was
well
but was
sorry
to her that
Isaac
was not
going
to
stay
at
home
with
you
for
I
had
thot
that he would be a
gradell
of
help
to
you
besides
a
gradell
of
company
But if he will not
stay
at
home
with
you
I
would
much
rather
you
would
send
him to
me
for
I
would
much
rather
he was here than any
where
else
in the
army.
" But if he has not
started
her
when
you
get
this
letter
I
want
him to
stay
at
home
untill
I
come
home
for
I
think
that
I
will be there
between
this and the
first
of
March
it
would
pain
me
very
much
for him to
gow
off
any
where
else
and
leave
you
before
Spring
for
I
do
not
see
how
you
would
get
along
through
the
balance
of the
winter
I
intend
to
do
the
best
I
can
to
get
off
home
in a
short
time
tell
Isaac
that
I
will
bring
him
back
with
me
when
I
come.
"
I
want
to
see
you
all
very
much.
"
It
seems
to
me
that
I
would be
glad
to
see
any
boddy
from that
country.
"
I
do
not
think
that
thare
will be any
more
fighting
of
importance
in this
part
of the
country
before
spring
and
I
hope
thare
will not be
much
more
any
whare.
" The
people
are in
tolerable
good
spirits
here and
talk
a
goodill
about
peace.
" But if the
Yanks
are not
satisfied
we
will
give
them the
best
as have in
our
[?]
But
I
do
not
believe
that they will
attack
us at this
place
before
Spring.
"
I
do
not
want
you
to
think
that
I
have any
fears
about
your
not
doing
the
best
you
can
for
yourself
and the
children
for
I
have
never
doubted
but what
you
would
do
that. But
I
was
afeard
that
you
would
indulge
Isaac
in
gowing
to
town
to
much
nowing
that he was to
much
inclined
to
keep
bad
company
the
way
the
news
came
here was in a
letter
from
some
of the
Chrestmans
and
I
suppose
that they
heard
it
some
how and
I
did
not
inquire
how for
I
did
not
believe
it
. But
I
thot
that
it
was
my
duty
to
tell
you
about
it
for
fear
he
might
be
influenced
by
some
mischeveous
boys
to
do
something
that would
give
you
and
me
trouble
I
would
very
much
hate
to her of him
gitting
into any
bad
scrape
I
have
nothing
more
of any
importance
to
wright
to
you
at this
time
.
I
have
written
you
to
two
letters
a
short
time
agow.
"
Give
my
best
respects
to
all
my
friends
and
relations.
"
Remember
the
little
ones
for
me
and
accept
the
best
wishes
of
your
husband
sow
farewell
for the
presant
untill
we
meet
again.
"
T.G
.
Clark.
"
P.S.
" If
you
do
sent
Isaac
I
do
not
want
him to be
mustered
into the
service
untill
he
gits
her for
I
think
that
I
can
arrange
matters
better
