Atlanta
George Vest led a discussion of special
problems under the new tax bill at the
Tax Forum presented by the Atlanta
Chapter, Georgia Society of CPAs and
Emory University on November 2-3.
Boston
Philip Shapiro was selected by the
Massachusetts Society of CPAs to serve
on a committee of one of the technical
meetings held during November. He
appeared as a panel member discussing
current accounting and auditing problems
on November 19, when his subject
was "Confirmation of Receivables."
Hugh Dysart, Jr. was selected as a
discussion leader at a seminar sponsored
by the Massachusetts Society in
cooperation with the U. S. Internal
Revenue Service, the Small Business
Administration and College of Business
Administration of Boston University
on October 27. The theme of the
seminar was "The Accounting and
Taxation Problems of Small Business."
Chicago
On October 16, Robert Trueblood
spoke before the Michigan Society of
CPAs on the subject "The Future of
the Profession." On October 24, with
James Bragg and Justin Davidson, he
conducted a one-day seminar in Madison,
Wisconsin for the University of
Wisconsin Management Institute on
"The New Frontier for Financial
Executives."
William Schwanbeck appeared on a
panel at the October 17 meeting of the
Chicago Chapter of the Financial Executives
Institute, discussing "Depreciation
Guidelines and Rules Under
Procedure 62-1." On December 4 he
spoke on "Depreciation Recapture"
at the Illinois Society of CPAs Tax
Conference and on December 6 he discussed
"New Tax Legislation" at a
luncheon of the Delta Theta Phi Law
Fraternity.
Justin Davidson participated in an
all-day session sponsored jointly by the
American Statistical Association and
the AICPA Committee on Statistical
Sampling held in Minneapolis on September
10. He spoke on "Sampling
Techniques Applied to Accounts Receivable."
On September 13 he addressed
the Federal Government Accountants
Association in Chicago on
"Sampling Techniques in Accounting."
On October 1 he was in charge of the
session on "Accounting for Business
Transactions" at the American Management
Association Seminar on "Accounting
for Non-Financial Executives"
held in Chicago.
Herbert Golden has been admitted
to membership in the American Institute
of CPAs.
On August 24, Robert Trueblood
spoke at the AICPA Staff Training Program
at Bradley University in Peoria,
Illinois on the subject, "The Future of
the Profession."
