EXAMINATION
NOVEMBER
1965
Thirty-four H&S offices are represented in the list of ninety-three
successful candidates from the November 1965 CPA
Examination. New York Office, with fourteen, had the largest
number of them.
Out of thousands of eligible candidates, Robert E. Wailes,
Jr. (Birmingham), a graduate of the University of Alabama
who joined H&S in 1962, received the highest grade on all
parts of the exam. For this achievement Bob will receive the
Elijah Watt Sells gold medal awarded by the American Institute
of CPAs. The gold medal represents the pinnacle of
the awards system established by the Council of the Institute
in 1923. A silver medal is presented to the second highest
scorer and from seven to ten certificates of honorable mention
go to those whose papers are deemed outstanding. Considering
the number eligible, these awards represent an outstanding
accomplishment.
We are pleased to have in H&S not only the gold medal
winner, but an honorable mention as well, received by Christopher
E. Burns of Philadelphia. A 1959 graduate of the
Wharton School of Finance and Commerce of the University
of Pennsylvania, Chris joined H&S in 1963 after several
years in business.
To both of these men and to all who successfully completed
the exam, the Firm extends heartiest congratulations.
