Seven H&S staff accountants were named to
receive Elijah Watt Sells certificates of honorable
mention from the American Institute of CPAs for
outstanding performance on the November 1975
Uniform CPA Examination. The seven were
among a group of only seventy persons honored
by the AICPA out of more than forty-two
thousand who took the examination last autumn.
Three of the H&S accountants are from the
Philadelphia office, and another three were
honored by their state societies for receiving
highest grades in those states.
William R. Deaton, an assistant accountant in
our Oklahoma City office, received an honorable
mention from the AICPA and the gold medal of
the Oklahoma Society of CPAs for achieving the
highest grades in Oklahoma. Bill joined the Firm
in June 1975 after graduating from the University
of Oklahoma. Earl Taylor, a graduate of Samford
University, was named to receive the gold medal
of the North Carolina Association of CPAs. Earl,
now a senior assistant in our Charlotte office,
joined H&S in June 1972 and scored the highest
grades in the state of North Carolina. David W.
Meltz, an assistant accountant, joined our Phoenix
office in October of last year after receiving a
graduate degree from the University of
Wisconsin —Madison. Dave turned in the highest
score in the state of Arizona.
A fourth recipient of an honorable mention was
Robert J. Meyers, assistant accountant with our
Minneapolis office. Bob joined the Minneapolis
office in July 1975 after graduating from the
University of Minnesota —Duluth, where he was
a recipient of the 1975 Haskins & Sells
scholarship.
The remaining three H&S accountants honored
by the AICPA are from the Philadelphia office.
John Bielun, a senior assistant on the audit staff,
joined H&S in Philadelphia in June 1973 after
graduating from Drexel University. Greg Kirk,
who also attended Drexel University, graduated
in June 1973 and joined the audit staff in
Philadelphia the following month. Greg is now a
senior assistant. Saul Sanders, an assistant
accountant with the Small Business Services
Group in Philadelphia, holds a BS and MBA from
the Wharton School of the University of
Pennsylvania. He received his graduate degree
in May 1975 and joined H&S the following month.
