H&S candidates in the May 1974 CPA
examination gave an exceptional performance.
Among the 248 candidates who took the exam,
three received state or national honors. Gary C.
Wayland of our Los Angeles office and Mark
D. Franco of our Denver office were awarded
Certificates of Honorable Mention from the
American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants. Mr. Franco also received the
Silver Medal from the Colorado Society of
Certified Public Accountants. Dennis J. Vogler
of our St. Louis office received the Gold Medal
from the Missouri Society of CPAs for the
highest grade in that state.
The Elijah Watt Sells Gold Medal went to
Charles H. Meyer, currently a student at the
Harvard Law School, who was an intern with
our Minneapolis office from January through
March 1974. This award is presented to the
candidate who takes all four sections of the
exam at one time and obtains the highest grade
in the country With over 33,000 candidates
completing papers in the May exam, the honor
attached to this award is especially significant.
While in his senior year at the University of
Minnesota, Mr. Meyer joined our staff as an
intern. He took the exam after having
participated in the office's coaching course.
Nine of our offices with ten or more parts
taken had 75 percent or more parts passed,
with St. Louis achieving a 100 percent record
for the 15 parts taken.
