Touche Ross elects new managing partner;

NEW MANAGING
PARTNER
Russell E. Palmer has been elected managing
partner of Touche Ross & Co. and will take office at
the time of the Firm's 25th Anniversary Partners'
Meeting in November. Mr. Palmer has been partner in
charge of the Philadelphia office for the past four
years. At age 38 he will be by far the youngest of the
managing partners of the Big Eight firms.
Mr. Palmer attended Michigan State University
where he graduated with honors. He was president of
the Beta Gamma Sigma, president of Beta Theta Pi,
chief justice of the All College Judiciary and a varsity
swimmer, among other activities.
He began his career with the Firm in 1956 in the
Detroit office. He transferred to the Denver Office in
1961 where he served as director of audit operations
prior to his appointment as partner in charge of the
Philadelphia Office.
He has had broad experience in Firm affairs
through service on the Board of Directors, the Ac­counting
and Auditing Executive Committee, the
Long Range Planning Committee, the Partner in
Charge Committee, the Technical Policy Committee,
the National Training Committee, and the Forward
Concepts Committee, among others. In these capaci­ties,
he has worked with the Firm in Europe and
Australia.
Mr. Palmer is a member of the AICPA and serves
on the Executive Committee of the Philadelphia Chap­ter
of the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs. Previously,
in Denver, he served the Colorado Society on the
Board of Directors and numerous committees. He is
on the Board of Directors of the Timothy School, a
school for autistic children, the Board of Trustees of
the United Fund, is a trustee of the Pop Warner Little
League Scholars, treasurer of the Right Angle Club,
and serves on the Executive Committee and Board of
Trustees of the Philadelphia College.
Mr. Palmer is married to the former Phyllis
Hartung and they have four children.
