After working briefly as a journalist, Bill Miles formed the advertising/public relations firm Bristow-Miles Associates, Inc. in 1963 in Tupelo, Mississippi (later Bill Miles Associates). The firm often represented local political candidates. In 1996, voters of Itawamba and Monroe counties sent Miles to the Mississippi House of Representatives where he remained for the next twelve years. The digital collection includes photographs by Miles of events surrounding the 1962 integration of the University of Mississippi as well as images of political clients by his public relations firm and other images for use by local magazines.
