I have sent over 600 stragglers to their
commands. I have an efficient guard
at the three Bridges over the River. I have
instructed them to pass no one unless
staff officer
and higher commanders
I have a surgeon placed at the Bridge
to examine all men representing themselves
as sick. If sick I have them sent to
Hospital. If able for duty I send under
guard to their commands. I have sent a
squad of Cavalry and a company of
Infantry to Calhoun to bring up every
man able for duty. I will have 10 or 15
scouts to return between their and dark
and will promptly furnish you with their
reports. If there are any other instructions
please forward them to me by courier.)
