Dear General,
I rec'd your letter of 12th Ins. by express, which I laid before Congress and in consequence of your intelligence have dispatched an express to Virginia and South Carolina, acquainting
them with the report, that they may be prepared in case the enemy should visit that quarter.
to give me the earliest advice of the movements of the enemy. I wish you very happy, and am with sentiments of esteem, Sir,
